Updates on My Fall Garden

Hello friends!

Welcome back to my gardening blog. It is already more than two week since I planted the seedlings for my winter garden.
It is really very surprising, the phlox plants And the celosia plants have already come up with flowers. The other plants are also doing good. But at the same time I have also lost a petunia and a pansy seedling.

My preparations for the winter does not ends here. I have planted few more seedlings, that I bought from a local plant nursery. This time I have again planted petunias, pansy, dianthus, calendula, gazania,snapdragon with nasturtium, kale, snowball mums as new additions.

The Winter Delights...

Hi Everyone, The winter season has almost come to its end. This winter i had a great experience with my garden. Lovely shades of color were all around the garden. Each corner had its own delight. Even the climbers which had been growing all year round have come up with beautiful blooms. The vividness of the colors and flowers were just breath taking.   Here are some of the clicks from my garden. I know I had posted bougainvilleas before but I can't resist posting these bougainvillea again. After a long time period it has come up with heavy blooms of red flowers. Its a beautiful delight for the eyes. Rangoon creeper I have planted many dahlias, but up till now only one has come up with a big flower. They rest of the dahlias have come up with buds and i am eagerly waiting for the flowers to come up.

Marigolds...

Hi Everyone, Marigolds are the plants which are very easy growing. A winter garden without them is not just complete for me. I planted the saplings of marigolds a month ago using the same kind of potting mix (Cow dung manure and soil in a ratio of 1:1) used for my other plants.The plant needs very little care and produces a lot flowers. These plants enjoy full sun and watering them once in a day will keep them growing well. I used a commercial foliar spray and a recipe (Which i will be sharing soon in my blog) of my own to boost the plants at 21st day after planting them.  Sharing some of the snaps from my garden... Facts about Gerbera...

Gerbera are easy to care for. They can be grown both indoors and outdoors, in pots or directly on the ground. However there are a few things that needs to be taken care of. I will be sharing a few tips for growing gerberas. Soil: I have been using mixture of soil and cow dung manure, and a bit of leaf mulch and believe me, the plants are doing great. But we need to make sure the potting mix is well drained. Light: The plant needs to be kept in direct sunlight for heavy blooms in spring, however with increasing summer  temperatures the plant requires some afternoon shade. Water:  Water your gerberas thoroughly but  make sure the excess water must drain out or else soggy potting mix will lead to root rot. Water your gerberas only when you see the top soil is dry ( do not overwater your gerbs ) Pruning: Remove the dead flower heads and the dead leaves.( you may sun dry the leaves and add them as mulch).
