This year I had a very good luck with the plants that I had planted for my monsoon reason. I have already shared a post on what I had planted for the monsoon. Last year I had planted a black eyed Susanne but I was very disappointed that the plant did not bore any flowers. This year the plant has rewarded me with lots of flowers. May be last year the plant was not mature enough to bear flowers. I have waited a long time to see the plant grow up. I still remember, many a times I thought of removing the plant completely and throw it out.I was totally exhausted with this plant.once my father had also asked me why am I growing weeds in my garden. This year all my wishes have been full filled by the plant. It bore three flowers and they were just beautiful.  The gaillardia plants have also bloomed profusely... I wont write much just the clicks will narrate their story... The beauty of the yellow cosmos is just breath taking. I love to grow cosmos. but

Orchids...A total delight for Gardeners...

Orchids are delight for every gardener. They are not easy growing plants. A slight compromise in amount of sunlight, water, fertilizers may kill the plant. I have a variety of Orchids in my garden ranging from Dendrobiums, Vanda, Catteleya to Oncidium varieties.  Each of these varieties have different types of requirements. The potting mix that i use is mixture of coconut husk, charcoal and small rounded pieces of bricks. I prefer to keep them under shades ensuring that they donot get direct sunlight. The watering is done once in every two days in summer and in rest of the year I water them only when the potting mix is dry. We have to make sure that the pot has plenty of holes. Since it was very hard for me to find such pots, I decided to go for DIY( do it yourself). I took mineral water bottles and cut them into half, after that i punched many holes into it, so that all the excessive water drains out. These pots also ensures that the roots get plenty of light since they are tran

Every year during monsoon, Our local nurseries organize a exhibition of different kinds of plants. A year ago I came across a plant with beautiful blooms. Later after searching for proper name of the plant in internet, i discovered that the plant is Ipomoea Cairica most commonly known as the Railway creeper. The plant has wonderful purple colored blooms. These days this plant seems to be very happy and is rewarding me with numerous blooms. Below are some of the snaps from my garden. This plant requires very little attentions and rewards heavily with blooms. Railway Creeper Railway Creeper Railway Creeper During the same year I also came across another plant. This plant had somewhat shredded green leaves with red blooms on it. It is fun watching these flowers bloom in the morning and die in the afternoon. For the first time I came across this plant I found it in a garden. But since the garden was restricted I couldn't collect seeds or stem cutting to propagate

Colors of My Summer Garden...

Hello Everyone! After having planted the seedlings for my summer garden, I was waiting for quiet a long period of time for my seedlings to grow up and bear beautiful flowers on them. The plants have shown good sign of growth and are now ready with buds on them. Last time I visited the plant nursery I came across a number of beautiful plants and hence I ended up adding them into my garden. Below are pics of the zinnia plant which I had planted as a seedling. It has grown well and already in bloom. Last year I had bought some unknown seedlings. I did not have any idea about the plant it will grow into. After some days I discovered some buds in the plants, when the plant started flowering I quickly googled it up...after struggling for some time I found it was a Gaillardia plant. The flowers were very beautiful. I find this plant very easy growing. These plants are easy to propagate and they just propagate by self seeding. Below are the some o
