Gerbera



Hello everyone!

Today I am sharing the gerbera blooms which are blooming in my rooftop garden. Its a total bliss to watch the exotic display of the flowers.
when ever i come across gerberas in the nearby plant nursery i never fail to add them to my rooftop garden. 
Last year i landed up with seven gerbera plants. Two of them were not at all in good condition. I potted them in containers and added some cow dung manure. The plant grew busy and rewarded me with blooms this year. I am glad that i was able to resurrect the plants which were not in a good condition. 
Gerberas grow well in early morning sun and shady afternoons. Watering is only needed when the soil dries out.we need to constantly keep a check for pests as the leaves are delights for the caterpillars. Remove the dried leaves and the dead blooms. That's all the plant requires.

Hi Everyone, Marigolds are the plants which are very easy growing. A winter garden without them is not just complete for me. I planted the saplings of marigolds a month ago using the same kind of potting mix (Cow dung manure and soil in a ratio of 1:1) used for my other plants.The plant needs very little care and produces a lot flowers. These plants enjoy full sun and watering them once in a day will keep them growing well. Wonderful Azaleas...

Welcome back readers! In the quest of adding more color to my garden, recently I have acquired two Azalea plants. Azaleas are a bit difficult growers. There are certain things that needs to be taken care of if we add Azaleas to our garden. The first and the foremost requirement of an Azalea plant is the type and quality of potting mix that is being used to grow these plants. I went through a number sites and browsed various pages so as to conclude on the use of the best potting mix required for these plants. Last year I had killed one of my Azalea by choking its root in a poor quality soil. The characteristics that the potting mix should have is it most be porous so as to circulate enough air in between the  roots and provide good drainage to the excessive water, at the same time the soil should be able to store enough moisture. My recipe for a healthy garden...

Hi Everyone, I went through several website to get the recipe for the perfect potting mix. After several researches I came along some ingredients which when mixed in a ratio results in a healthy potting mix. Potting mix is the most important thing for the plants. Some important characteristics that a potting mix should have are listed in the subsequent lines. The potting mix should be able to hold water and at the same time it should drain out excessive water. It should be rich in nutrients and to be specific NPK. Nitrogen , phosphorus and potassium are the basic building blocks for the garden to flourish, but at the same time the soil should contain some micro nutrients like zinc, calcium, boron magnesium and the list goes on.
